Are you wondering if Quest 2 comes with games installed on it?
As you may know, the original Quest headset came with 8 pre-loaded demos of games.
But what about the latest iteration of this popular headset; Oculus Quest 2?
Does it come with any games?
The Oculus Quest 2 does not come with pre-loaded games, but it comes with 2 short VR tutorials that resemble a “gaming experience”. Regardless, you can find plenty of free games and experiences in the Oculus Store.
In the rest of the post, I’ll show you these 2 VR tutorials in more detail and where to get free games for your Quest 2 device.

VR Tutorials Resembling a Gaming Experience
The Quest 2 doesn’t come with pre-loaded games that would have your typical storylines or missions, unfortunately.
But it does come with two great beginner tutorials that will prepare you for the “real games” in the future.
What are these tutorials about?
Both tutorials do a great job of introducing you to the virtual reality world and how to move around and interact with different objects using your controllers.
They’ll give you a good sense of what the headset is capable of and will help you get comfortable with virtual reality, so you can start exploring more challenging and engaging games and experiences.
First Steps
First Steps is the introductory tutorial to using your Quest 2 and its controllers.
It teaches you about the guardian system, how to use your controllers, and how to interact with various virtual objects within the world.
After learning the basics, you get to play a shooting mini-game where you can choose from 3 different weapons; a pistol, dual pistols, & a rifle.
It’s a simple practice shooting range to get you familiar with aiming using controllers.
Once you’re ready to move on, you get to throw a dance party with your robot buddy.
That’s the “First Steps” in a nutshell.
First Contact
“First Contact” is similar to “First Steps” but without any controller tutorials.
It focuses more on how to interact with various virtual objects.
You start by making friends with another robot buddy who hands out cassette tapes for you to use.
You insert these cassettes into machines and the machines print virtual objects for you to interact with such as:
- Butterflies
- Rockets
- Balls
- Music instruments
- Guns
Overall, both tutorials are great introductions to the VR world for beginners.
I highly recommend you start with these instead of rollercoasters! 🙂
Where To Get Free Games For Your Quest 2
While the Quest 2 doesn’t come with pre-loaded games, there are plenty of free games & experiences you can download.
The first (& easiest) place you should look for is the Oculus Store.
It’s where you can find free games or try demos of paid games.
And if you feel like the Oculus store doesn’t have enough content to fill your needs — worry not.
SideLoading content to your Quest 2 device is what you may want to do in that case (although it requires a PC or Android phone to get working).
But if you do have the requirements — I can promise you won’t be running out of free content anytime soon.
Here you can see what type of content SideQuest has to offer.
